Ayatollah Khamenei Stresses Exploring Lives, Teachings of Infallible Imams

IQNA – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Shia Islam expanded during the time of Imam Jawad (AS), Imam Hadi (AS), and Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) like never before, stressing the need to explore the lives and teachings of the Imams (AS).

Addressing a mourning ceremony held on Saturday evening commemorating Imam Hadi’s (AS) martyrdom, Imam Khamenei called for research and writing about the three Infallible Imams.

Imam Khamenei criticized the fact that there is little mention of Imam Jawad (AS), Imam Hadi (AS), and Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) in sermons and books.

“During no period in time has Shia Islam expanded as much in terms of quantity and quality as during the time of these three Imams,” he stated.

The Leader emphasized the unparalleled contributions of Imam Hadi (AS), along with his father and son, to the quantitative and qualitative expansion of Shia Islam. He noted that at no point in Islamic history has Shia Islam achieved such widespread recognition as during the era of these three distinguished Imams.

“Baghdad and Kufa turned into the core centers of Shia Islam during the times of Imam Hadi (AS) and Imam Jawad (AS), and the role of these esteemed figures in promoting Shia teachings has been remarkable,” he remarked.

The Leader underscored the importance of exploring the lives and teachings of these Imams within diverse historical and artistic contexts. Criticizing the lack of attention afforded to these three esteemed figures, he remarked, “Unfortunately, in historiography, book writing, and even in our sermons, little attention has been given to the lives and teachings of these three noble Imams. Researchers and artists need to work on this area and create more works.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also described Ziyarat al-Ja'ami'ah al-Kabirah as an unparalleled gem, adding that if it were not for the efforts of Imam Hadi (AS), this supplication would not be available to us today. The knowledge found in this Ziyarat, which are based on the verses of the Quran and the pure truths of Shia Islam, demonstrates the mastery and profound knowledge of Imam Hadi (AS), he said.

During the gathering, Imam Khamenei also referred to a novel he had recently read, which outlines one of Imam Jawad’s (AS) miracles. He described the production of artistic works in these areas as insufficient and called for greater attention to be paid to creating more works on this topic.
